Field Trips at Arkansas Headwaters
Animals (fish, birds, mammals, insects) and their habits/habitat; tracks and scat; water and environment; geology; geography; outdoor recreation and healthy bodies.
Take a short hike into Browns Canyon National Monument and Wilderness Study Area to learn about the geology and ecosystem that makes it unique.
Go to the Arkansas River or a local lake and study the macroinvertebrates and other life forms in the water and why these indicate the health of the water and surrounding bio-network.
Students could also tour a local fish hatchery.
